Trauma Therapy Across the UK
Traumatic experiences can affect the way we think, feel, relate to others and experience the world around us. While some people recover naturally over time, others continue to feel affected months or even years after difficult experiences.
I provide specialist trauma therapy online for adults across the UK and internationally, helping people recover from PTSD, Complex PTSD, childhood trauma and the lasting impact of abuse, neglect and other overwhelming life experiences.
My approach is informed by EMDR therapy and trauma-focused psychological approaches, tailored to each person’s individual needs.
What is Trauma Therapy?
Trauma therapy is a specialist form of therapy that helps people understand, process and recover from distressing or overwhelming experiences. Trauma can result from a single event, such as an accident, assault, bereavement or medical emergency, but it can also develop from repeated experiences over time, such as childhood neglect, emotional abuse, bullying, domestic abuse, coercive control or growing up in an unpredictable environment.
Trauma does not only affect memory. It can influence the nervous system, emotions, relationships, sleep, concentration, self-worth and the way a person experiences safety in the world. Many people know logically that something is over, but their body and emotions continue to react as if the threat is still present.
Trauma therapy aims to help the brain and body process these experiences so they no longer feel as overwhelming or intrusive. This may involve developing stabilisation and grounding skills, understanding trauma responses, reducing avoidance and gradually processing traumatic memories in a safe and structured way.
I use EMDR therapy and trauma-informed approaches to support adults experiencing PTSD, Complex PTSD, childhood trauma and trauma-related difficulties. Therapy is adapted to your individual needs and paced carefully, so that you feel supported throughout the process.
